Pentateuch, the first five books of the Bible are written by Moses, except for the last portion of the book of Deuteronomy.
Genesis is the book of beginnings. It starts with the magnificient statement "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth". Genesis assumes that God exists. In this book, we read about the creation, fall, God's redemption plan, Tower of Babel, geneologies, Noah's flood, stories of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, and more.
Exodus gives us the story of Israelites leaving Egypt. Israelites lived in the bondage of slavery for 400 years and God heard their cry. God sent Moses to the Pharaoh and demonstrated His power through 10 plagues. The final plague was the killing of Egyptian first born children - from the Pharoah's son to the common man's son. The Israelites observed the Passover by eating bitter herbs, signifying their slavery in Egypt and applying the blood of the lamb to their door posts, because of which the angel of death has passed over them.
Leviticus is the third book of the Bible. God gives law to the Israelites. Leviticus describes the law and various rituals and instructions of sacrifices.
Numbers begins at Mount Sinai, where the Israelites have received their laws and covenant from God. The details of their journey through the wilderness, their rebellion, miraculous provision of God, etc. are described in this book.
Deuteronomy means second law. It is the last book of the Pentateuch. This book contains three sermons delivered by Moses, that recounts the forty years of wilderness experiences and an exhortation to observe the law. This book narrates the passing of the mantle from Moses to Joshua, and ends with death of Moses on Mount Nebo.
On this page, you will find sermons from these 5 books.
